When we watch our friends and family battle with this addiction, we are torn because on the one hand, we deeply love and care for our family member. However, on the other hand, we realize that if our loved one does not get their addiction under control, the end results could be disastrous.

Organizing an Intervention

Many individuals have seen that the best way for them to get through to their loved ones is by having an intervention. In order for an intervention to be successful, careful thought must be given to those who are going to be chosen to participate in the intervention. Close friends, loving family members, and some work associates might to be selected.

Care must be given to see to it that the intervention is organized. Set a specific time and date for the intervention. Make sure that all who are going to participate in it are aware of its location. It would be a good idea for everyone who is going to participate in the intervention to get together ahead of time so that, as a group, they can rehearse the message that they are going to transmit to their loved one that is battling the addiction.

Getting the Best Results

A successful intervention does not happen by accident. In order for interventions to be successful, follow up work must be done. This means that friends and family members must stay in constant contact with their loved one who is fighting the addiction. They must be a source of moral support in order to see to it that their loved one stays in treatment and avoids a relapse.
